Discover Benevolence.

A Rich History in Northeast Randolph County

Benevolence received its name from the “benevolent act” of Thomas Coram, who gave land for a church and a cemetery in 1840.  The town continued to thrive and became the home to four churches, general stores, a bank, a millinery shop, a machine shop, a post office, a drug store, doctor’s offices, three cotton gins, mechanical shops, a Masonic lodge, schools, and a train stop until the late 20th Century.
